I've followed a variety of coreboot instructions to install packages, in particular this and this. subversion) - this has been different from the guides I have seen, because their methods and targets seemed out of date and just did not work. I've cloned from git to install flashrom, not svn (i.e. How could it be that all of a sudden I can't get flashrom to start up the programmer? I had the Dell talking to the undamaged (?) black ch341a just two weeks ago. I can summarize the situation in a table: I have run them from two different computers, the Dell and a Pi Zero. I have one brand new green ch341a, which is supposed to be better at delivering a reliable 3.3V. Nevertheless, I modified it as per these instructions to get 3.3V. However, I suspect this device is damaged from a subsequent misadventure with a WoL-powered x230 target + a usb supply from my other computer, a Dell XPS13 (Lubuntu 18). Originally, this device read both BIOS chips flawlessly (in triplicated, checked by diff, md5). Flashrom is (mostly) refusing to initialize the programmer. I'm at the stage where I just want to write coreboot and me_cleaner-treated images to the chips, but its just not working. I am having a helluva time getting flashrom to do its job on a Lenovo x230 via ch341a programmers.
